A New Vision for Long-Term Care: Supporting Aging in Place
Suzanne Dupuis-Blanchard, RN PhD FRSC FCAN
Dr. Suzanne Dupuis-Blanchard is a registered nurse and a professor at the School of Nursing at Université de Moncton, where she holds a Research Chair in Population Aging and serves as the Director of the Centre on Aging. With over 35 years of experience in long-term care and community health nursing, her research program centers on the various dimensions of aging in place, particularly within Official Language Minority Communities (OLMC). Dr. Dupuis-Blanchard is the pioneer behind the Nursing Home Without Walls program, a pan-Canadian initiative that promotes aging in place, for which she received recognition from the United Nations Healthy Ageing 50 initiative and the Senate of Canada. Additionally, she has served as the past chairperson of the National Seniors Council for the federal government, past president of the Canadian Association on Gerontology (CAG), and is a long-time member of the Canadian Gerontological Nursing Association (CGNA). She is also a Fellow of both the Royal Society of Canada and the Canadian Academy of Nursing.
